Life is Stressful Sometimes, Here’s How You Can Deal With It

Life can be stressful sometimes. There’s daily stress, emergency moment stress, past and ancestral stress, marital stress, work stress, family relationship stress and even stress that’s innermost to you, just to name a few. No matter what label you give to it, it’s still just stress and it’s not permanent. Unless… your fight-or-flight brain gets stuck in it. That’s when you feel like you’re in that Groundhog Day movie, living it over and over again. Or you’re on one of those hamster wheels, just spinning around and around on it, staying stressed and wanting to get off, but unsure how. What we totally forget is that we have a choice in this, whether to stay in stress mode or not.

Stress is a natural part of life. Change is always going to be present and stress can be a reaction to that change in our life – big or small change! Thoughts and beliefs can cause stress. Yet we have a choice whether to take in those thoughts or beliefs and make them our own, or let them keep on go down the street, going their merry way. That’s a choice. And we’re not meant to keep every thought or every belief if they don’t work for us in a healthy way, adding to our lives positively.

So, how do we let go of stress? First of all, understand that you are not that stress or stressful thought. If you’re going to start using the “I am’s” in a conversation (even with yourself), you need to add the word ’feeling’ or ‘experiencing’ to it. “I am feeling stress” keeps it in a temporary state, something that’s in the moment and that can leave as soon as you take a few deep breaths and let it flow through you and out. Saying “I am stressed” says “this is who I am. This is me.” And is that really true? No, not unless you’re going to declare ownership and make it all about you. And that’s a pretty common thing for people to do-step into a stressful moment and declare it as their identity and it’s really not nor ever was. It’s just what we’re experiencing. Sometimes it comes when we’re triggered by an event that’s going on now when our brain turns to a memory of something similar in emotion and says, “Wait a minute, I remember feeling this way before and this is how I reacted! With (pick your emotion here)! So I must react the same way right now!” That tells you that that past emotional stressor was never dealt with, or healed, and is still affecting you now and your body-mind is just giving you the same hamster wheel reaction that it thinks it’s supposed to give you, because that’s what it did in the past. Only it didn’t work for you in the past (because you hung on to it) and it’s not working for you now.

The energy balancing modalities that I work with, using today’s quantum knowledge combined with ancient wisdom knowledge, work beautifully together to get to the root causes of that stress so that you get out of your own way and the body-mind can do what it does best: help heal itself. You get to peel away those layers (think of an onion!) and resync the body and mind so that they come out of stress mode, because they can communicate again and work together to help make a healthier you.

You can breathe deeper and that allows the body to move energy, and thoughts are energy, through and out of the body, so you’re not hanging on to them. We do this safely, noninvasively, using Chinese and Eastern techniques as well as fascial (connective tissue) release of strain patterns. We can hold anything in the body at any time. If you think of a stressful moment you’ve been carrying around, what area tenses up in your body? That’s usually where you’ve been holding it. If you want to continue holding on to that tension, great, no one here is going to judge you for that. Now if it’s not working for you anymore, come in for a session soon and get your life flowing again!

In the meantime, practice taking in and releasing some good deep breaths – slowly. And make sure the breath is moving through the chest, ribs, stomach and belly. If it’s not, or you’re feeling it mainly in your shoulders, then that’s all the more reason to get in soon for a session so you can get your life to flow again! See you soon!
