I am a certified speech/language pathologist (CCC-SLP) with four decades of experience in articulation, language processing disorders and delays, auditory processing delays, voice disorders, oral motor delays, feeding/swallowing disorders, and aphasia therapy.
I work with children and adults from birth to 100 years. Adding energy work to therapeutic techniques helps the individual to increase focus for learning. While I have refined my practice to working primarily with energy medicine to increase focus, processing abilities, I am happy to provide a consult session and guide you to working with your family members at home.
Currently, I work with the Gillespie Approach/CFT (craniosacral fascial release) to work with oral motor disorders, particularly post-frenulectomies, to help increase the physical range of motion for speech and feeding. Through my years of working with clients who have had their lingual and/or labial frenums clipped, I have seen the enormous benefits that come from working with the fascial (connective tissue) system in conjunction with oral motor exercises. If there are adhesions or strain patterns orally, you will generally see them through the different parts of the body, especially between the mouth to the abdomen/hip region. It’s all connected through the fascia and can result in decreased range of motion for the tongue, lips, sternum/ribs (ex: decreased ability to get good inhale/exhale movement), and stomach/gut issues as well.
See Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) for more information.
